Pho 79Pho 79 is one of the local favorite Pho in Garden Grove/Westminster area. It’s also the only Pho noodle that plays classical music through out the year. Even though the place is really old and a little run down, they still have a lot of customer that goes regularly.
I used to get #33 – 79 Superbowl, which has everything in it (w/ rare, well done beef, tendon, tripe & brisket) when I only want pho. But recently, I feel a small #32 is enough, I it has less noodle but enough amount of the ingredient to fill me. And add a side of oxtail, and a drink. Perfect combo for under $10. ![]() ![]() I really like their Pho broth, I’m sure it has MSGs, but not so much to the point that make you thirsty and require glass after glass of waters and it’s not very greasy. They also give you a lot of meats and ingredients in the soup, at first I didn’t realized how much ingredients was in the soup b/c most of them were bury beneath the noodle. But usually I can’t finish my noodle because there IS a lot of food in that bowl. Also the meats that comes in the soup are very tender, not those dry chewy tasteless meat but flavorful ones. With all those points I mention, they deserve to be the best Pho soup around the area. Their spring roll is pretty good as well, the rice paper is very chewy, and it wrap the content very well and doesn’t fall apart like Lee’s Sandwich spring rolls. There’s also grilled pork in the spring roll as well, which adds more flavor to the spring roll. My drink choice was avocado shake, I really like it but it’s slightly sweeter than what I like, I think it would be perfect if there’s less condense milk in the drink. You can also add a side of oxtail for $1.50, I was shocked when they brought out the oxtail, it’s the same size as my bowl of pho. There’s 4 big pieces of oxtail…my jaw dropped, and it was soft and flavorful. I was only able to eat a piece of it and pack rest of them home. It’s really a good deal, so don’t forget to order that side of oxtail, I’m sure you will love it.

I want more Ludobites… foie gras was soooooooooo heavenly.. that reminds me I need to work on that post.
Brodard AND dessert huh? =P
I’ll definitely come down soon and experience more of what Little Saigon can offer.
I love foie gras, but I was almost sick of it in Canada….the foie in the sweetbread was better than that miso soup though…
agree.. it’s better on sweetbread than miso soup. I like them seared.. =D But I’ll eat anything w/ Foie gras
You should mention that they close early, right? ><;
Good point…
Great meeting you at the Indo dinner — anyhow, thought you were posting about the Pho 79 in Alhambra (makes more sense that you’d be posting about the OC one though). Glad to know another solid pho option in that area!
H.C. – Great meeting you as well, it was a lot of fun last night… we should get together again. I’m not sure if that Pho 79 is the same owner as the one in OC, but the one in OC is probably better.
